Sinn Féin group leader’s condolences for former PUP councillor Hugh Smyth

12 May, 2014

Sinn Féin Councillor and group leader at Belfast City Hall, Jim McVeigh, has expressed condolences on the passing of former Councillor Hugh Smyth.

 Speaking today Cllr McVeigh said:

“Hugh was involved in local politics for many years and was one of the longest serving councillors ever in Belfast.

“While we may not have always agreed politically we got on well and Hugh was a man who wouldn’t pass you without saying hello.

“I wish on behalf of Sinn Féin to express our condolences to the family and friends of Hugh Smyth.” ENDS/CRÍOCH
