Sinn Féin setting a trend on social media

12 May, 2014 - by Megan Fearon

Sinn Féin MLA Megan Fearon said today that the party’s message is reaching record numbers of people across Ireland and beyond on social media.

Megan Fearon said; “A message promoting Sinn Fėin's agenda of change was sent to more than 560,000 people on social media sites.

“This followed a hugely successful campaign using the 'crowd-speaking' app, Thunderclap, which has also been used by The White House and the United Nations.

“The message, ‘Join growing numbers of people backing Sinn Féin. Let's fight austerity, cuts and partition together. #ImVotingSinnFein’ was generated by the app.

“It was posted on the profiles of more than half a million users of Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr.

“As a result the #ImVotingSinnFein was trending in Ireland today.”

And the Newry Armagh MLA said the party was once again breaking new ground.

"Sinn Féin continues to be a trendsetter, using digital platforms to reach as many people as possible,” said Megan Fearon.
