Senator Kathryn Reilly condemns kidnapping of Nigerian school girls

13 May, 2014 - by Kathryn Reilly

Sinn Féin Senator Kathryn Reilly has condemned the kidnapping of Nigerian school girls by Boko Haram and has supported a motion in the Seanad today which calls on the government to release all available resources to help the Nigerian Government to secure the release of the girls.

Senator Reilly said;

“Sinn Féin is happy to support this motion and we feel that the cross party support shows that we all condemn the actions of Boko Haram, and we want all these kidnapped girls released without harm immediately.

“The latest attacks by Boko Haram on schools and in particular their kidnapping of over 200 school girls from Chibok school in Borneo state in north-east Nigeria are sickening and are rightly condemned by people all across the world.

“The abduction of these girls has sparked outrage and for the first time people are taking notice of this dreadful war in Nigeria and the effect it is having on civilians.”
