Sinn Féin Health Spokesperson Maeve McLaughlin has welcomed the news that the Early Intervention Transformation Programme (EITP) is in the final stages of approval.
Ms. McLaughlin stated
“The Minster of Health Edwin Poots has stated in an answer to a question I posed during question time that the Early Intervention Transformation Programme is in the final stages of approval at the Executive.
“I welcome the fact that the EITP is near completion as we need to improve the opportunities of children at the earliest stage possible.
“The strategy that will be joint funded by five Departments and private philanthropy and will allow us to impact on children who are in social need in giving them opportunities to improve their health educational and employment outcomes.
“It is important that not only do we make interventions at an early age but that we work out strategies that deal with the causes of poverty and social exclusion.
“I look forward to the seeing the programme passing through the Executive as soon as possible so we can offer hope to communities who are stuck in the cycle of poverty, poor health and under achievement.”
