Sinn Féin’s Lynn Boylan today urged young people to use their vote on Friday in the European and local elections to Make the Change and vote Sinn Féin.
The Dublin EU candidate said:
“Young people have not only been failed by this government and the last, they have been targeted for some of the meanest and harshest cuts.
“Youth unemployment stands at 26%.
“177,000 young people have emigrated since 2008.
“One in four rural households has lost a family member to emigration.
“The facts speak for themselves and they are damning.
“Employment supports have been cut, the costs of education and training have been hiked up and there are tens of thousands less young people in employment than when Fine Gael and Labour took office. This government has choices and it has chosen to turn it's back on our young people.
“Sinn Féin Youth Affairs Spokesperson Senator Kathryn Reilly last week launched a comprehensive policy document setting out comprehensive and achievable solutions to the crisis facing our young people in Ireland.
“My message to young people is this. Make your voice heard. Have your say. Make the Change and vote Sinn Féin on Friday in the local and European elections.”
