Sinn Féin president Gerry Adams TD today visited the Paris Bakery and Pastry LTD on Moore Street where workers are involved in a sit in over the failure of their employers to pay them over 50,000 euro in wages.
The Sinn Fein leader extended his solidarity and support to the workers.
Gerry Adams said:
"The failure of the owners of the Paris Bakery and Pastry LTD to pay outstanding wages to its workforce is unacceptable.
“Workers have been left in an impossible situation with some unable to pay their rent, one made homeless, and others not paid since February.
“They should not have to occupy their workplace to get paid. Non payment of wages should be a criminal offence.
“The government has a responsibility to ensure that the owners fulfill their obligations to workers and pay all outstanding wages.
“Sinn Fein will raise this issue in the Dáil this week.”
