Ruane to bring racial abuse of Anna Lo to Policing Board

30 May, 2014 - by Caitríona Ruane

Sinn Féin MLA and member of the Policing Board Caitríona Ruane said today there is no place for racism in society.

And Ms Ruane said that a complaint related to the racial abuse of Alliance MLA Anno Lo is to be discussed at next week’s meeting of the Policing Board.

Caitríona Ruane said:

"In March I became aware of racial and verbal abuse directed against Alliance MLA Anna Lo at an International Women's Day event and I reported the incident to the Policing Board.

"The complaint will now be discussed at next week’s meeting of the Policing Board.

"I and the other Sinn Féin representatives on the Board will take the opportunity to show our continuing support and solidarity for Anna Lo in the face of disgraceful racial abuse.

"There can be no place in our society for racial abuse and we will continue to challenge and oppose it at every level." Ends/Críoch
