Ó hOisín calls for relocation of civil service jobs

3 June, 2014 - by Cathal Ó hOisín

 Sinn Féin MLA Cathal Ó hOisín called today for the decentralisation of more civil service jobs to East Derry.

 Speaking after it was announced that 50 vacant positions in the Department of the Environment will be filled by workers in Coleraine, the East Derry MLA said;

 "The relocation of civil service jobs to the Coleraine area is welcome. However, this should not be viewed as a replacement for the almost 300 DVA jobs which will be lost from the area next month.

 "What is required is a substantive move to decentralise public service jobs to areas across the North, particularly west of the Bann.

 "Such a move would go a long way to support local economies and provide employment in communities. " Ends/Críoch
