Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan said today the PSNI’s refusal to release information to the Police Ombudsman on 60 killings will be raised at the Policing Board tomorrow.
Speaking after the Police Ombudsman launched legal proceedings against the PSNI, the Policing Board member said;
"The PSNI's refusal to provide information to the Police Ombudsman is completely unacceptable.
"By obstructing or refusing more than 100 requests from the Ombudsman on 60 killings the PSNI is impeding investigations and denying families access to the truth.
"We will be raising this at the Policing Board tomorrow morning.
“And we will be voicing serious concerns that the Ombudsman's office is not being allowed to carry out its duty because of the PSNI's refusal to co-operate.
"This is not the only instance where the PSNI is not fulfilling its responsibilities and duties.
"We will also be raising concerns around the failure of the PSNI to investigate the activities of the British army's undercover MRF unit, as revealed in a recent documentary, despite requests from the Public Prosecution Service for an investigation."
