Health Reform Bill must re-instate Discretionary Medical Cards - Sandra McLellan TD

5 June, 2014

Sinn Féin spokesperson on Arts, Heritage, Tourism & Sport, Sandra McLellan TD has today said the forthcoming Health Reform Bill must re-instate Discretionary Medical Cards.

Speaking in the Dáil, Deputy McLellan said:

"The Government must confirm that the forthcoming Health Reform Bill will re-instate Discretionary Medical Cards to all those who need them and who have had them removed.

"Families across the State have been put through unnecessary distress and pressure by the Government’s recent policy of Medical Card removal and despite the comments of Government spokespersons in recent days, the current policy remains unclear. This would be an opportunity to clarify the situation."
