Sinn Féin Justice spokesperson Padraig Mac Lochlainn has expressed concern at news today that the Department of Justice has refused to publish details of surveillance requests it has made to Vodafone.
Deputy Mac Lochlainn said he will be raising the issue with the Minister in the coming days.
“The use of mobile phone companies for surveillance of citizens should be used only in the most exceptional of circumstances and always in a responsible and accountable manner.
“The refusal of the Department of Justice to publish details of it use of this type of surveillance is quite alarming and unacceptable.
