Sinn Féin seeks urgent meeting with Gardaí and Minister for Justice over shooting of child in Ballyfermot

14 June, 2014 - by Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD

Sinn Fein's Aengus O'Snodaigh TD has called for an urgent meeting with senior Gardaí and the Minister for Justice to discuss the shooting of a young child in Ballyfermot last night.

Deputy Ó'Snodaigh said:

"I condemn last night's shooting in the strongest possible terms. I hope the boy makes a full and speedy recovery. I would encourage anyone with any information to give it to the Gardaí.

"I have written to the Minister for Justice, Frances Fitzgerald TD, urging her to meet with politicians of all parties to discuss what can be done. It is vital that we ensure last night’s events do not undo all of the good work in our community.

"I am also seeking a meeting with the Superintendent. It is important that Gardaí receive all the resources necessary to make Ballyfermot a safe place to live, work and play in."
