Ó Snodaigh expresses concern for Greyhound worker knocked down by company truck

17 June, 2014 - by Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD

Sinn Féin TD for Dublin South Central Aengus Ó Snodaigh has expressed his concern for all 'locked-out' Greyhound workers after one of their colleagues was knocked down by a company truck while on the picket line earlier today. The worker was subsequently rushed to hospital.

Deputy Ó Snodaigh, who was at the scene supporting the workers when the incident happened, said:

“This was a deeply distressing incident for all those workers standing on the picket line campaigning for fair pay and conditions.

“It was clear that the person wasn't used to the truck and it struck the worker who was sitting on the footpath.

“He has been rushed to hospital.

Firstly, I want to express my hope that he will be okay. I also want to impress upon the management of the company that as long as they prolong the dispute with workers they need to ensure that workers 'locked out' and other road users are safe."
