Sinn Féin councillor condemns sectarian attack on teenage boy

19 June, 2014

Sinn Féin Councillor Mary McConville has condemned a “cowardly” sectarian attack on a 16-year-old boy in the Springfield Road area last night.

 Mary McConville said:

“This was a despicable and cowardly attack on a teenage boy making his way home through the area.

“The police are treating this as a hate crime motivated by sectarianism and I unreservedly condemn those responsible for the terrifying assault on this child.

“Sectarianism is wrong and we all have a responsibility to challenge it wherever it manifests itself.

“I would appeal to anyone with any information on this attack to contact the PSNI.”
