Campbell condemns sectarian attack

25 June, 2014

Sinn Féin councillor Kevin Campbell has condemned a sectarian attack on a teenager in Derry.

Speaking after an 18-year-old Catholic teenager was attacked by a group of up to 12 people in the predominantly loyalist Fountain estate last weekend, Councillor Campbell said;

"There can be no place for sectarianism in our society.

"This attack on an 18-year-old youth from Creggan in the Fountain estate must be condemned outright.

"I wish this young man a speedy recovery from his injuries.

"Great strides have been made in improving community relations in Derry in recent years and those efforts will not be set back by attacks like this.

"This is a city moving forward and no one wants to see these type of incidents taking place.

"I would call on anyone with information on this attack to contact the PSNI.”
