Government cronyism a case of ‘different folks same strokes’ - Gerry Adams TD

26 June, 2014 - by Gerry Adams TD

Sinn Féin Leader Gerry Adams TD has hit at the Government emerged that Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte had quietly appointed two Coalition cronies to a state board in what are believed to be his final days as a Cabinet minister.

Gerry Adams said:

“This was a Government decision. The Cabinet had to approve these appointments. It is a further indication of cronyism under Fine Gael and Labour.

“Fianna Fáil-style governance is alive and well in the Fine Gael/Labour cabinet room.

“In the dying days of the last Fianna Fáil-led government we saw Fianna Fáil packing State boards. They were loudly and rightly criticised at the time by the Labour Party.

“Yet here we have a case of Communications Minister Pat Rabbitte packing a State board in what is likely to be his final days as Minister.

“It’s clearly a case of different folks same strokes.”
