Sinn Féin Councillor Daithí Doolan has called on Greyhound to reinstate striking workers and to engage directly with SIPTU to resolve any outstanding issues.
Speaking after a cross party meeting with SIPTU, Cllr Doolan said:
"Today's cross party meeting was very useful and informative. Greyhound's use of agency workers is an attempt to break the strike and puts both workers and members of the public at risk of injury. This race to the bottom in wages and conditions is unacceptable.
"This essential service should never have been privatised. Serious questions need to be answered by council management about the tendering process that resulted in Greyhound providing the service.
"Sinn Féin is taking this dispute very seriously. We look forward to having a full debate on this strike at the forthcoming City Council meeting on July 7th.
"Greyhound must fully engage with SIPTU, reinstate the workers and resolve this dispute as soon as possible."
