Sinn Féin's spokesperson on Housing, Dessie Ellis TD, had announced details of Saturday's Day of Action on Housing.
Speaking this evening, Ellis said:
"We are facing a housing crisis of unprecedented proportions. Recent government legislation will make it even more difficult for families to be housed.
"Sinn Féin is committed to providing solutions to the housing crisis. Here in Dublin Sinn Féin will be having a day of action highlighting solutions to the crisis. Saturday's events are about highlighting the need for action and publicising some of the solutions.
"In the morning our councillors will be meeting with a number of housing agencies and charities to discuss tackling the homeless issue. This will be followed by a total of 33 events across the 4 local authorities. We will be having information stalls, protests and petitions calling on government to take immediate action.
"The housing crisis needs solutions and we aim to be part of that solution."
