Sheehan calls for police action as Orange marchers assault cameraman

Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan accused marchers taking part in an Orange parade today on the Springfield Road of assaulting a freelance cameraman.

The West Belfast MLA said:

 “When the march was coming out of Workman Avenue a freelance cameraman walked across the road to film the parade.

 “He was almost immediately assaulted by members of the Orange Order taking part in the parade.

 “Nationalist stewards stepped in to rescue the man and to pull him back to safety.

 “This was an unprovoked assault on the photographer and I will be calling on the PSNI to take action against those involved in this vicious attack.”
