Sinn Féin Irish language spokesperson Rosie McCorley has welcomed the provision of interim funding by Education Minister John O’Dowd to Altram, the Irish pre school service provider.

 Ms. McCorley stated,

“It is important that the pre school services to Irish medium schools are maintained to the highest standard so I welcome this announcement by the Education Minister John O’Dowd today that he will provide funding to Altram.

“Altram has been providing this service for several years and I recently met with them in order to discuss the change over in funding and how services and standards can be maintained.

“The announcement by the Minister will allow time for everyone involved in the provision of early years Irish medium education to work out a way forward in order to maintain these essential support services.”
