Sinn Féin leadership to meet Cameron and Miliband
Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD, Deputy Leader Mary Lou McDonald, Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness and Fermanagh South Tyrone MP Michelle Gildernew will be in London tomorrow for separate meetings with the British Prime Minister David Cameron and the Labour leader Ed Miliband.
The focus of both meetings, which are being held at Sinn Féin’s request, are the ongoing efforts to reach agreement among the Executive parties on outstanding issues arising from the Good Friday and other Agreements, including the issues of flags, parades and the past.
Gerry Adams said:
“This will be the first meeting that the British Prime Minister David Cameron will have held with the Sinn Féin leadership since he took office in 2010.
"This is deplorable and evidence of the British government’s failure thus far to properly engage with the process of change in the north.
"Key to making progress is a positive engagement by the Irish and British governments on issues which are their direct responsibility. The governments cannot with credibility speak off the lack of progress in the process unless they act to fulfil their obligations."
