Kelly welcomes start of new Bunscoil development

3 July, 2014 - by Gerry Kelly

Sinn Féin MLA Gerry Kelly has welcomed the beginning of work on the new £4 million development at Bunscoil Bheann Mhadagáin in North Belfast.

 Speaking after Education Minister John O'Dowd cut the first sod at the site, the North Belfast MLA said;

 "The start of work on the new multimillion pounds development at Bunscoil Bheann Mhadagáin is a great boost for the local area and will be welcomed by pupils and parents alike.

 "The staff at the bunscoil have been carrying out fantastic work in challenging circumstances and now they will have first-class facilities to allow that to continue and develop.

 "This is a significant investment from Education Minister John O'Dowd and reflects the growth in support for the Irish language in the north Belfast area.

 "The development will also see the creation of state-of-the-art sports facilities including a new floodlit pitch and upgraded changing rooms for use by the school and local sports clubs.

 "This will enhance Bunscoil Bheann Mhadagáin's position at the heart of the community in north Belfast."
