Sinn Féin councillor Philip McGuigan has challenged DUP leader Peter Robinson to call on loyalists to remove a flag in the grounds of a Catholic church in Dervock
Speaking after the DUP said Peter Robinson does not support the erection of flags at churches, councillor McGuigan said;
"The DUP said that Peter Robinson has always believed that places of worship should be respected.
"That is to be welcomed but it now must be followed up with action. Peter Robinson needs to call on his allies in the UPRG and UDA to have these flags removed.
"He has a responsibility to stand by his public position and do everything he can to ensure this flag in the grounds of Our Lady and St John the Evangelist church is removed.
"The local community want this flag to come down.
"All churches and places of worship should be treated with respect and church-goers should not be intimidated with flags."
