Robinson must condemn effort to intimidate Executive minister – McMullan

7 July, 2014 - by Oliver McMullan

Sinn Féin MLA Oliver McMullan has challenged Peter Robinson and his Junior Minister Jonathan Bell to condemn intimidation, which led to a council visit by Junior Minister Jennifer McCann being cancelled today.

Oliver McMullan said:

“Jennifer McCann was in Carrickfergus today for two meetings in her role as a Junior Minister.

“The council made a decision to cancel the second of her two meetings because of a loyalist picket outside the council offices as officials were worried about the potential for trouble.

“This protest is the outworking of the ’graduated response’ of the combined unionist and loyalist front.

“I challenge the First Minister Peter Robinson to condemn this intimidation and interference in the important work of Executive colleagues improving the lives and opportunities of all our young people."
