Without change of political direction, Cabinet reshuffle is a non-event – Gerry Adams TD

10 July, 2014 - by Gerry Adams TD

Sinn Fein Leader Gerry Adams TD has warned that a change of faces around the Cabinet table without a change of political direction by the Government would be pointless.

Speaking in Murrintown, County Wexford this evening, where he is addressing a public meeting Gerry Adams said:

“A change of faces around the Cabinet table without a change of political direction by the Government will be pointless.

“For those struggling families bearing the brunt of austerity, a Cabinet re-shuffle is of no consequence unless it means a genuinely new political direction that can bring positive change to their daily lives.

“What citizens voted for in May, as they did in the General Election in 2011, was political change. But the Government has let the people down and has no mandate for what it's doing.

“The last thing we need from is more of the same. Unless the cabinet reshuffle is accompanied by a radical change of political direction it will be a non-event.”
