Reshuffle a vote of no-confidence in Galway government deputies - Ó Clochartaigh

15 July, 2014 - by Trevor Ó Clochartaigh

Sinn Féin Senator Trevor Ó Clochartaigh has said that the reshuffle stands as a vote of no-confidence in Galway based government TDs.

Senator Ó Clochartaigh said:

“The government reshuffle has seen the demotion of Ciarán Cannon who was County Galway's only ministerial representative.

“No other government TD from Galway East or West was seen fit for either Ministerial or Minister of State positions. This suggests that they aren't in favour with Joan Burton or Enda Kenny or that they don't have what it takes to fulfil the roles in the eyes of the Taoiseach or Tánaiste.

“It leaves County Galway at a distinct disadvantage in that it doesn't have a voice at the cabinet table or even in the junior ministerial ranks. This shows a lack of regard from the government for the capital of the West.”
