Sinn Féin MLA Daithí McKay has welcomed agreement on the June monitoring round secured at today's Executive meeting.
Speaking after the deal was reached, Mr McKay said;
"The agreement on the June monitoring round reached today is to be welcomed.
"It ensures major projects, including the Historical Institutional Abuse Inquiry, can be advanced and protects the two key departments, health and education.
"Unfortunately we came into this monitoring round with a budget that was already curtailed by the British government taking £4 billion from the block grant and overcommitment from several departments.
"In the absence of fiscal powers these are the financial realities we are faced with.
"Sinn Féin said from the start of this process that welfare cuts should not be part of the June monitoring round and that remained our position throughout.
"What we need to see now is the Executive parties coming together and presenting a united front in order to oppose these cuts being imposed by a Tory cabinet of millionaires."
