Sinn Féin MLA and Junior Minister Jennifer McCann will meet with members of the Belfast Islamic Centre this evening to take part in celebrations to mark the end of Ramadan.
Speaking ahead of the visit, the West Belfast MLA said;
"I was delighted and honoured to have been invited to the Ramada Hotel by the Belfast Islamic Centre to take part in the Eid al-Fitr celebrations to mark the end of the month of fasting during Ramadan.
"This is a very important festival in the Islamic calendar and it's a privilege to be asked to share it with the local muslim community.
"The muslim community make a significant and valued contribution to the cultural life and society in Belfast and across the North.
"I also want to show my solidarity with the local Islamic community at this time when the people of Palestine are suffering as a result of the brutal Israeli onslaught.
"Some members of the local Islamic community have friends and family living in Gaza and they are understandably very concerned for their safety.
"I will be calling for an immediate end to the slaughter in Gaza and for a genuine and verifiable ceasefire to be put in place."
