McCann backs City Hall Gaza solidarity vigil

4 August, 2014 - by Jennifer McCann

Sinn Féin MLA Jennifer McCann has encouraged people to take part in a solidarity vigil for Gaza in Belfast city centre tonight at 7.30pm.

Speaking ahead of the black flag solidarity vigil at Belfast City Hall, the West Belfast MLA said;

"It is important that we continue to show solidarity with the people of Gaza who are suffering as a result of the Israeli offensive.

"People across the world have been taking to the streets to show their support for the Palestinian people and to call for an immediate end to the violence.

"Taking part in solidarity protests contributes to the international pressure on Israel to call a halt to the bombardment of Gaza, open the borders and lift the blockade."
