Kelly condemns Duncairn Gardens pipe bomb

5 August, 2014 - by Gerry Kelly

Sinn Féin MLA Gerry Kelly has condemned those behind a pipe bomb attack in North Belfast.

Speaking after a device was thrown at a parked car at Duncairn Gardens, the North Belfast MLA said;

"I condemn those responsible for leaving this device under a car at Duncairn Gardens.

"The area was disrupted as people had to be evacuated from their homes and places of work.

"This was in a built-up area, close to homes, a doctor's surgery and business premises.

"Thankfully the device did not explode and no one was injured but we could have been looking at a very serious situation here if it had exploded.

"It would appear that this is the work of anti-peace process loyalists who seem intent on disrupting efforts to build bridges and develop communities.

"Those responsible have absolutely nothing to offer society and need to call an immediate halt to these kind of actions."
