Kelly condemns North Belfast gun attack

12 August, 2014 - by Gerry Kelly

Sinn Féin MLA Gerry Kelly has condemned those involved in a shooting last night in the Westland estate of North Belfast.

The North Belfast MLA said:

“I condemn last night’s gun attack on a family home in the Westland area. It’s no thanks to the attackers that no one was seriously injured in this cowardly attack.

“It would be a worrying development if, as many people fear, that this gun attack was carried out as a result of tensions between loyalist factions.

“There can be no place in our society for armed gangs and this type of activity should be brought to a halt.

“If anyone has any information on this reckless incident they should contact the PSNI.

“I would also appeal to political and community leaders in the loyalist community to work with police in a bid to ensure there are no more attacks like this.”
