McKenna welcomes jobs boost for Portadown

14 August, 2014

Sinn Féin Cllr Gemma McKenna has welcomed the recent announcement by Portadown-based company Almac that almost 350 new jobs will be created over the next five years.

Cllr McKenna commented,

"This is great news for the local area that once again businesses are expanding and creating jobs locally. The investment by the Almac group of £54 million over the next five years, creating 348 jobs in Portadown is very welcome.

"This announcement of 348 jobs is a clear reminder to our young people that there are opportunities at home for a successful career.

“It is important that innovative companies such as Almac continue to invest locally so that people can live, work and spend in their local area.

"Over the past year there have been a series of jobs announcements within the local area in a range of sectors.

“As we move into the new council area it is vital that we support our locally companies so they are able to grow and develop.”
