Sinn Féin representative in Glenavy Mary Kate Quinn has hit out at the people who daubed Catholic Churches with sectarian slogans last night.
Ms. Quinn said,
“The people who attacked the Catholic Churches last night will not succeed in either intimidating the local community or disrupting the good community relations in the area.
“There is no place in Glenavy or Stoneyford for this sectarian bile and I am sure the community will rally around the local priests in order to have the churches restored to their former state.
“Attacks on places of worship no matter what denomination are wrong and shouldn’t happen as is attacks on Orange Halls, GAA Clubs or other community facilities.
“The only way to stop these attacks is to have an united front of all political persuasions standing up and condemning such senseless actions.”
