Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson has encouraged people to attend the Foyle Pride Festival parade on Saturday.
Speaking ahead of the parade through the city centre, Ms Anderson said;
"The annual Foyle Pride parade is a fantastic occasion that has become a real fixture in the city's calendar."It is a great celebration of equality, tolerance and diversity.
"The Foyle Pride Festival recognises the huge contribution the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community make to our society.
"Over the last few days it has included a wide range of events raising awareness of many important issues.
"Unfortunately, homophobia still exists in our society and the Foyle Pride Festival offers everyone an opportunity to show solidarity with the LGBTQ&I community and demonstrate our rejection of such narrow-mindedness.
"I would encourage as many people as possible to come along and take part in this fantastic event on Saturday at 2pm from the Waterside train station to the Guildhall."
