Sinéad Burke would be a fantastic asset to the Seanad – Ó Snodaigh
Aengus Ó Snodaigh TD has commended the choice of Meath County Councillor, Sinéad Burke as Sinn Féin’s candidate for the upcoming Seanad by-election. Teachta Ó Snodaigh has praised the enterprising community development worker as an ideal candidate for the Seanad vacancy, serving on the Industrial and Commercial panel.
Teachta Ó Snodaigh said:
“I am pleased to announce Sinéad Burke as the Sinn Féin nominee for the Senate seat left vacant by the early retirement of Jimmy Harte. She is a highly capable young mother who has represented the people of Navan for some time, with a proven track record of delivering for her community.
“Cllr Burke has provided republican representation and local leadership at a grassroots level for many years. She will be a campaigning vote for jobs, workers’ rights and investment in local communities and public services.
“A member of the Board of Directors of Meath Enterprise Centre she has spearheaded many initiatives during her time in public office. During Sinéad's term as Mayor in Navan, she launched a major Christmas campaign for the town, which saw the local Chamber of Commerce and the local authority working together for the first time in many years.
“Sinéad is a champion of disability rights and is currently working with Meath County Council to set up a Disability Advisory Group for all future Meath County Council infrastructure projects. Mental health is also a huge concern to Sinéad, and earlier this year she founded the perpetual ‘Mayor's Happiness Project’.
“Sinéad would be a fantastic asset to the Sinn Féin Oireachtas team and Seanad Éireann.”
