Young People in Fingal deserve a new government- Louise O’Reilly

25 January, 2016 - by Louise O'Reilly TD

Figures released this week by TASC show that the number of children aged 0-6yrs suffering from deprivation has doubled, leaving Ireland with the third highest deprivation rate for this age group in the EU.

Commenting on these figures Sinn Féin’s Fingal candidate Louise O'Reilly said:

'With 1000 children under eight years in emergency accommodation and deprivation rates rising it is clear that this government has failed children.

It has had five years to improve the lot of families and it has failed.

Sinn Féin launched our Childcare Policy last week and we are prioritising children who are at the heart of this document.

We have a detailed, costed plan to reduce childcare costs to a maximum of €180 per week and which will see investment in childcare workers’ education.

On the centenary year of the Rising it's shameful to see that this government has failed to cherish our children equally.”
