Clarity needed over discovery of gun and names - Dillon

9 September, 2016 - by Linda Dillon

Sinn Féin MLA Linda Dillon has said clarity is needed over the events surrounding the discovery of a handgun and a list of names in Tamnamore.

Ms Dillon said;

"In June it was reported that a handgun, ammunition and a list of names had been found during renovations of a house near Tamnamore but this was initially denied by the PSNI.

"Now the PSNI have done a u-turn and confirmed that a handgun was found.

"The PSNI have questions to answer over why the story changed in relation to the discovery of this weapon. We need clarity on exactly what happened and why.

"Given the activities of loyalist death squads, acting in collusion with and under the direction of British intelligence services in this area for many years this discovery is very concerning.

"My party colleague Phelim Gildernew will be raising this matter at the Policing and Community Safety Partnership and Sinn Féin will also be raising it at the Policing Board and seeking to meet the PSNI to discuss the issue."
