Santa Claus needs the post office network to do his job – Kenny
Sinn Féin TD for Sligo, Leitrim, West Cavan and South Donegal Martin Kenny today called on the Minister for Communications Denis Naughten to help Santa Claus out and keep rural post offices open around the country.
Deputy Kenny said:
“The post office network is essential for children’s letters to get to Santa at the North Pole. Christmas is a very important time for all children and a very busy time for post offices up and down the country.
“The Minister has to remember that we don’t have reliable broadband in these parts and the post office has a very important task in making sure that Santa Claus knows what Irish children are wishing for at Christmas.
“If it wasn’t for the post office, I don’t know how Santa would do his job at all.
“This Christmas, I am asking the Minister for Communications, Climate and Natural Resources to work with other members of government to ensure the survival of the post office network.
“Post offices are a valuable asset to communities throughout the country all through the year and not just at Christmas.
“It is essential that the post office network is protected.”
Deputy Kenny also reassured the children in his constituency, that even though the forecast is for stormy weather, that it will be no bother to Santa Claus to drive his sleigh to all the boys’ and girls’ houses because he has years of experience of Irish weather and it never stopped him before.
