Company warnings reinforce need for RHI investigation - Ní Chuilín

29 December, 2016 - by Carál Ní Chuilín

Sinn Féin MLA Carál Ní Chuilín said today revelations that a dozen companies and bodies had warned of the lack of cost controls in the disastrous Renewable Heat Incentive scheme reinforces the need for a robust time-framed, transparent and independent investigation into the scandal.

Ms Ní Chuilín said:

“The revelations that more than a dozen companies and bodies provided warnings over the need for cost controls in the disastrous Renewable Heat Incentive scheme only strengthens the case for a robust, time-framed, transparent and independent investigation into the scandal.

“The RHI scandal is a massive misuse of public funds and is an issue that must be addressed.

“Proposals must be brought forward to reduce the losses to the public purse from this disastrous scheme.

“Sinn Féin will be bringing forward a motion in early January, which deals comprehensively with the substantive issues surrounding this debacle and calls on the First Minister to stand aside during such an investigation.”
