We will use our mandate to deliver for all – Gerry Adams
Sinn Féin Leader Gerry Adams TD said today that Sinn Féin will use its mandate in this election for equality, respect and integrity to deliver for all.
Gerry Adams said:
“Tá mé fíorbhuíoch dár n-iarrthóirí agus dá gclanna.
“I want to thank our candidates and their families.
“I want to thank all those who worked for us in the election. Well done to our number crunchers and vote managers.
“Particularly the activists who travelled across the island to work in constituencies in the north.
“I commend Michelle O’Neill for an energised and positive campaign.
“But I especially want to thank all the voters.
“Gabhaim buíochas mór fosta do Martin McGuinness, do Bernie agus do chlann McGuinness ar fad.
“This was also a huge vote of thanks to Martin McGuinness, Bernie and the entire McGuinness clan.
“The Sinn Féin vote in this election was for equality, respect and integrity in government.
“Vóta in aghaidh Brexit a bhí ann agus ar son stadas ar leith taobh istigh den Aontas Eorpach.
“It was a vote against Brexit and for the north to have a designated special status within the EU.
“It is a vote for the return to the political institutions based on the agreements that have been made but not implemented. As Ian Paisley famously said to Martin McGuinness ‘we don’t need Englishmen to govern us’.
“So a step change is needed. There can be no return to the status quo.
“As Michelle O’Neill said in the campaign, what we win, we win for all.
“We will use our mandate to deliver for all in society.
“Michelle O’Neill has invited the two governments and the other parties to talks as soon as possible.”
