Sheehan encourages youth groups to apply for funding

7 April, 2017 - by Pat Sheehan

Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan has encouraged youth groups to apply for the second round of Education Authority funding.

Pat Sheehan said:

"Youth providers across Belfast, including Irish language youth providers were rightly concerned after being told their funding from the Education Authority was being cut last week.

"I met with the Education Authority alongside Fra McCann to raise those concerns and secured a commitment that youth providers whose applications weren’t successful could reapply for funding.

"I would now call on youth providers to get in their applications for this funding.

"While the opportunity to reapply for funding is welcome, it is clear we need to see changes in the application system to ensure it is more sustainable and equitable and we will continue to engage with the Education Authority about this."
