Memorandum of Understanding will benefit farmers and environment - Archibald

10 April, 2017 - by Caoimhe Archibald

Sinn Féin MLA Caoimhe Archibald has welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ulster Farmers Union and the north’s Environment Agency.

The party's Agriculture, Environment & Rural Affairs spokesperson said:

"Good environmental practices and land use management underpin sustainable farming. This is something which is understood by both the agricultural and environmental sectors."

"The signing of this MoU puts a focus on advocacy and communication and will help support farmers in ensuring compliance to environmental standards and hopefully reduce the need for enforcement.

"Our agricultural produce is renowned for its quality and that is due in part to the standards imposed. Helping farmers to achieve these can only be a positive development in driving more sustainable and efficient farming."
