Cultúrlanna in north of vital importance – Ó Donnghaile
Sinn Féin Seanadóir Niall Ó Donnghaile has said we must stand up for the two Cultúrlanna in the north. The Senator was speaking after Foras na Gaeilge announced there will be a public consultation relating to a new scheme for Irish Language centres.
Seanadóir Ó Donnghaile said,
“The two Cultúrlanna are of vital importance and have been for some time.
“Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin and Cultúrlann Mhac Adaim Ó Fiaich have a central role in the development of the Irish language not just in Derry and Belfast, but across the north.”
He continued:
“Undoubtedly, there is a need to develop the Irish Language in many areas across the country; this does not mean it must be to the detriment of two projects of great success. If there is to be a strategic way forward, options should be explored which do not remove funding from the Cultúrlanna.
