Attacks on bunscoil are attacks on whole community – Sheehan

4 May, 2017 - by Pat Sheehan

Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan said there is a deep sense of anger in the community in the Upper Springfield at the recent spate of attacks on the Irish language primary school, Bunscoil an tSléibhe Dhuibh.

The West Belfast MLA was speaking ahead of a rally in support of the bunscoil tonight:

“This school is an integral part of the community and as such the attacks on it are an attack on the wider community.

“Bunscoil an tSléibhe Dhuibh is part of the expanding Irish medium education sector in West Belfast and throughout the North. It provides our children with an invaluable service and is highly valued within the community.

“Following the third break-in in three nights the people of the area are extremely angry and I know the community will come out tonight and show their support for the school, its children, teachers and parents.” CRÍOCH/END

• NOTE: The rally tonight will take place at the school (15 Ballymurphy Rd, Belfast BT12 7JL) at 7pm.
