UDA flags are an attempt to intimidate – Gerry Kelly

19 May, 2017 - by Gerry Kelly

Sinn Féin MLA Gerry Kelly said the erection of UDA flags in a mixed area of Glengormley is clearly aimed at intimidating local residents.

The flags were put up over night and at the same time Sinn Féin election posters were also ripped down in the area.

Gerry Kelly said:

“This is clearly an attempt by unionist paramilitaries to intimidate the local community but it will not succeed.

“I would call on community representatives and other political parties to call for the removal of the flags.

“This attempted intimidation will not work but does raise tensions in the area as we approach the marching season.”
