Kearney condemns criminal attacks on cars
Sinn Féin South Antrim MLA, Declan Kearney has condemned a series of attacks on cars in the Rathenraw and Stiles Farm areas, Antrim last Thursday.
Mr Kearney said:
“In the early hours of Thursday morning, the windows of two cars were smashed in the Rathenraw estate, followed by a third in Stiles Farm.
"These attacks are acts of wanton vandalism. The victims are ordinary hard-working members of our community, and now face repair costs and inconvenience which they can ill afford.
“Despite the late night/early morning time frame of these attacks, I am hopeful that someone will have seen, or heard something in the areas concerned.
"I would appeal for that information to be passed immediately to the police.
“I am on record especially in the case of crimes against the community, that we all need to be alert and vigilant in the face of such criminality.
"We need to unite against those anti-social and criminal elements determined to undermine the fabric and solidarity of our community.
"I would therefore encourage everyone to assist the police whenever they are able to do so. Regardless to its apparent insignificance, all information can help the police apprehend the criminals in our midst.
“Community safety is our collective responsibility. It is essential that we work together as one community in partnership with the police, in order to combat the criminality which threatens our everyday community safety.”
