Action needed on pallets dumped at New Lodge tower block – Ní Chuilín

24 June, 2017 - by Carál Ní Chuilín

Sinn Féin MLA Carál Ní Chuilín has called for urgent action about the dumping of pallets at the base of one of the tower blocks in the New Lodge area of North Belfast.

Speaking today Carál Ní Chuilín said:

“Those who have stacked and dumped pallets at the base of one of the tower blocks in the New Lodge are playing with people’s lives.

“This is showing the utmost disregard for this community and those who live in this tower block.

“There has been a small group of anti-social elements engaging in collecting bonfire material over the past week and rightly the community has rejected this.

“Today's actions bring this to a new level.

“I have been in contact with the PSNI, the Housing Executive and Belfast City Council to get this removed with urgency.

“This is totally unacceptable and must stop before we are dealing with a death or serious injury in this community.

“We have seen the tragic effect of a fire in a tower block in London. It cannot be allowed to happen here.”
