New Lodge PSNI key move "breach of privacy" - Ní Chuilín

3 August, 2017 - by Carál Ní Chuilín

Sinn Féin MLA Carál Ní Chuilín has expressed concerns that the decision to give master keys for the New Lodge tower blocks to the PSNI is a breach of privacy.

The North Belfast MLA said:

“The standard Health & Safety practice is that emergency services including the PSNI and the Fire & Rescue Service would be given fobs to gain entry to the tower blocks.

“The decision to give the PSNI master keys to all the flats in the New Lodge and Mount Vernon tower blocks is a breach of privacy.

“I have written to the Chief Executive of the Housing Executive for an explanation as to why this was done without consultation with the residents of the tower blocks.”
