Family of Patsy Kelly to meet Police Ombudsman

7 August, 2017 - by Barry McElduff

The family of Patsy Kelly from Trillick, County Tyrone will meet with the Police Ombudsman, Dr Michael Maguire tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday 8th August) at 2.30pm.

The Kelly family will be accompanied by West Tyrone Sinn Féin MP, Barry McElduff and by family solicitor, Mr Pat Fahy.

The meeting was requested by Barry McElduff in his capacity as MP.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Mr McElduff said:

'The Kelly family want to know why there has been such a reticence on the part of the RUC and HET in the past and currently the PSNI and Police Ombudsman to share with them information relating to their loved one's murder.

“The Kelly family have been failed abominably by the state, by police and by other investigative agencies.”

• Patsy Kelly was an independent Councillor who was murdered in July 1974. It is widely believed that there was direct involvement of UDR in his murder.
