Sinn Féin to meet Health officials
Sinn Féin spokespsersons on Health and Mental Health MLAs Pat Sheehan and Orlaithí Flynn will meet with the Department of Health today.
Speaking ahead of the meeting Pat Sheehan said:"
At our meeting this morning we will be voicing our opposition to the proposed £70m cuts to Health Trust budgets and expressing our concerns with the impacts it would have on frontline services and a direct attack on vulnerable people.
"We will be seeking an immediate reversal of the cuts to front-line services.
"The programme of cuts is completely act odds with the transformation agenda outlined by former Minister for Health, Michelle O'Neill."
Órlaithí Flynn said:
"Importantly we will also be raising with the Health Permanent Secretary the concerns of women who are suffering serious side effects from vaginal mesh implants and seeking clarity as to how the HSC system is responding to the needs of these women.
"We will be demanding that the Department takes immediate action to ensure those patients experiencing complications are urgently reassessed and have immediate access to treatment."
